Class Date(s) and Time(s):
Course Length:
Course Instructors: Calen Maningas
Course Price: $30 Per Student

Description:
You have been trained to lead by command and control. On the fireground you have perfected this leadership style, yet you do not have the same results leading the organization. Your department, your crew, your team continues on its’ way, even if it has no way. The problem is our world around us has changed but our leadership style has not. The Hard Skills learned during emergency operations do not translate into the Soft Skills required to lead people. The “boots on the ground” do not know how to “Live the organization” and leaders respond with an “I say, you do” mentality. The result is a lack of trust between members and chiefs, a breakdown in communication, and different crews – stations – shifts – etc., acting as their own departments. This session will actively engage members, of all ranks, through discussion and real-world incidents to understand why we must shift our leadership, the barriers we will encounter, and how we can be uncertain about the future but not unclear about who we are. OBJECTIVES: • Understand the leadership change of command and control to influence and inspire • Identify the barriers and resistance we will meet and how to walk through them • Act on the steps to become an influential and Inspiring leader • Understand the importance of visionary strategies for long-term departmental success and growth, developing member who adapt to evolving challenges.
